The Experience

This is not a resort.

El Vijo sits at the end of a boat ride from Nuquí, where the Colombian Pacific jungle meets the beach. No roads. No ATMs. No lobby. Getting here is part of the deal. Carlos leads the surf himself and knows every break on this stretch of coast. Beatrice runs the kitchen. The food is real.

A small number of guests at a time. Come to surf properly, eat well, watch whales from the water, and sleep to the sound of the Pacific.

Best For

Season

Surf

April – October

Peak Pacific swell reaches this coast April through October. The breaks here handle a range of levels. Carlos reads them personally and takes you to the right spot for your ability.

Season

Whale Watching

July – October

Humpback whales migrate into the Colombian Pacific July through October. You can be in the water with them. The overlap with surf season makes this window the most sought after.
